RE: Tabulations or calculation of alpha particle range

Question:

Dear Colleagues

I have a need to calculate the range of alpha particles (energies up
to ~ 10 MeV) in boron and some boron compounds. Many years
ago I used a programme called SPAR which could do this. I recall
that it was developed at Oak Ridge. Does anyone know of a listing
of alpha particle ranges or software which is currently available for
calculating this?

Many thanks.

Monty Charles

Response:

Monty,

SPAR is available from the Radiation Safety Information Computational Center
(http://www-rsicc.ornl.gov/rsic.html). The documentation for the program,
including the formulas used, can be viewed at the web site. Look for SPAR in
the alphabetical listing of software.

Ben
