RE: Polycarbonate chemical structure

Question:

Folks,

I've searched the RADSAFE archives and the web for information on the
chemical structure of polycarbonate - - - for a shielding calc - - - but
with no success. I can find everything about polycarbonate BUT chemical
structure OR molecular mass.

I would appreciate any info or references you might be able to provide.

Michael,

I did a web search on polycarbonate which lead me to the trademarked name
Lexan. A search on Lexan led me to an article in the Encyclopedia Britannica
http://www.britannica.com/bcom/eb/article/0/0,5716,129060+2+117700,00.html?q
uery=lexan which showed the chemical structure of the base unit for the
polymer. It looks to be C16 H14 O3. Another source listed the density as
1.19 g/cc.

Hope this helps.

Ben
