ICRP 79 (Genetic susceptibility to cancer) is interesting reading. One
bottomline is that (most probably) not even high-risk _individuals_ (cancer
in general, high penetrance genes in the family) are at any particularly
enhanced cancer risks even if they are exposed to as much as 100 mSv (10
rem), see sections 7.1.1-7.1.2. The main risk is still that relating to the
inherited genes. (the theory behind a relation between radiosensitivity and
cancer susceptibility in general is discussed from many aspects in ICRP 79).
Next part (=problem) is the usual - and more difficult - get this message to
decision makers, media, and a worried general public.
My reflection only,
