Re: Class Y Uranium Chemotoxity?
You can find it on the DOE TIS web page but for some reason it only shows up if you look under the recently approved standards.
The web address is http://tis.eh.doe.gov/techstds/standard/standfrm.html
Then select the recently approved section and it will appear.

Subject: RE: Request for Info on DU Munitions: Useful(?) Information
"For class "Y" Uranium, chemotoxicity is the limiting toxicity below 0.82%
enrichment. Therefore, chemotoxicity prevails for DU."
_______
This is an interesting deviation from past guidance (e.g, HP Manual of Good
Practices for Uranium Facilities, Table 2-12, and 10CFR20, App B, Footnote
3). It has always been the presumption that Class Y uranium's radiotoxicity
always dominated its chemotoxicity, even at the specific activity of
depleted uranium. What is even more interesting is that 0.82% is greater
than natural/normal abundance. Is this from DOE-STD-1136-2000? I don't
have a copy and was unable to locate it on the DOE TIS website. Do you have
any suggestions on where I can obtain a copy?
Thanks for any insight,
