3H tests

We use tritium linked to thymidine and other biological compounds in
biological labs with good surfaces.  We find a tissue moistened with
detergent very effective in our conditions.  This can be counted directly in
a scintillation vial using aqueous based scintillants without any further
processing.  Background and quench controls can be a similar treated tissue
unexposed or as Franz described you can always go back and spike the sample
with a known amount to work out the efficiency.
