The terms "highly radioactive" and "high level radioactive
waste" seem to be used interchangeably by many, especially the media and
those who oppose the nuclear industry. I'm not all that sure that many of
the users understand the terms. The first term seems to have no official
definition, the second does. But to the person who subscribes to the
philosophy that "Radiation kills, don't catch it." the
differences will not matter.
OBTW, Is that proton decay half
life (or what ever you could call 10E31 years) only for a free proton?
Neutrons do not decay in captivity ( in the nucleus) but only in a free
state.
Who knows, Jerry. Maybe your
time has come.
Just an analog guy in a digital
world.
