RE: Sorry - Another DU Question
I think they have only detected U-236 in Kosovo. However, the expected
transuranics and U-236 have been detected in the US DU stockpile. The
reported "additional 0.8% dose" due to TRU in DU is accurate. I was
surprisingly impressed when I saw this value reported.
As the EM Weekly Report stated (posted by Ms. Garwecki), the Recycled
Uranium Mass Balance Project is back in action - with a special report on DU
to be released next month. Those interested should monitor the applicable
website: http://tis.eh.doe.gov/legacy/. Although, the website is currently
bankrupted, I would assume this is where the reports will be published.

Subject: Sorry - Another DU Question
First, let me say that I do not want to start another DU thread...
I just got done going through several Radsafe archives looking for
information on the presence of transuranics in DU, in order to respond to a
question I received here at work. As far as I can tell, the presence of
transuranics in DU has been hypothesized based on the detection of U-236 in
Kosovo soil (or other) samples, but has not actually been confirmed.
Is this true? Or does someone know of any actual detects?
Thanks, and you can respond to me directly at the e-mail address below.
Hans
