Group,
I add/suggest the following 'classic treasures' in my personal library,
though these often cover advanced topics:
1) David W. Anderson, Absorption of Ionizing Radiation, University Park
Press, Baltimore, Maryland, 1984
2) Frank H. Attix, Introduction to Radiological Physics and Radiation
Dosimetry, John Wiley & Sons, 1986
3) The Dosimetry of Ionizing Radiation, Vol. I , II, and III, Edited by K.
R. Kase, B. E. Bjarngard and F.H. Attix, Academic Press, Inc., 1985
4) J. K. Shultis & R. E. Faw, Radiation Shielding, Prentice Hall, Inc., 1996
5) M. Eisenbud & T. Gesell, Environmental Radioactivity, 4th Ed, Academic
Press, 1997
Regards,
Miro

Hi,
I'm curently doing my MSc in Radiation and environmental protection at
Surrey, and the following books are essential bibles in terms of health
physics and radiation protection.
Radiation detection and measurement. Glenn F. Knoll. 3rd Ed
An excellent book with everything you should need to know about radiation
detectors.
Atoms, Radiation and radiation protection. James E.Turner
An excellent background to atomic physics and radiation protection.
An Introduction to Radiation Protection. Alan Martin and Samuel A.Harbison.
4th Ed.
A practical book detailing radiation protection and health physics
monitoring techniques. An absolute must for radiation surveyors.
Radiation Protection at point lepreau generating station. J.B.Burnham. N B
Power.
For a complete practical introduction to health health physics principles
then this book is an absolute must. It practically details health physics
montoring techniques in a clear easily understandable format. The only
problem with this particular volume is its availability as it is hard to
obtain, as it was printed as a training manual for workers at a power
station. If anybody knows of a vendor, then please dont hessitate to contact
this discussion group.
I hope this helps,
Tony Bunce
