Radiation Safety Officer (Health Physicist III)
The Ames Laboratory, a Department of Energy funded research laboratory
operated by Iowa State University, is seeking an individual to manage its
Radiation Protection Program. This individual will be responsible for the
daily operations of the Ames Laboratory Radiation Protection Program
including the effective implementation of 10 CFR 835 requirements and DOE
orders as applicable. Responsibilities include the development and
implementation of policies and procedures, approval of radioactive material
users and protocols and interactions with regulators and oversight agents.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a physical science or
engineering field with 3 years of related experience. Experience must
include work in health physics, and knowledge and interpretation of
radiation regulations and their application in a diverse research and
academic environment. The successful candidate will have excellent oral and
written communication skills, supervisory skills, the ability to work in a
team environment and a thorough knowledge of radiation protection
principles.
Preferred Qualifications: Valid driver's license
Salary/Wage: $39,723 minimum, dependent upon qualifications
Proposed Start Date: As soon as possible
Appointment Conditions: Continuous, 12 Months, Full Time
