Re: Specific activity



"Low Specific Activity" material is defined in the IAEA Regs for Safe
Transport of Radioactive Materials, as any of the following:

(a) uranium or thorium ores or concentrates;
(b) unirradiated natural or depleted uranium or unirradiated natural thorium
(obviously THEY didnt think DU was a big concern!!);
(c) tritium oxide in water at less than 10 Curies/litre;
(d) materials in which the (specific) activity under normal transport
conditions does not exceed (10exp (-4) A2) per gram;
.....there are a couple more clauses but these are the main ones.
