CEZ Expects Results of Temelin Turbine Tests Tomorrow
Prague, Feb. 27 (Bloomberg) -- CEZ AS, the main Czech power utility,
will have results tomorrow of a turbine test at its Temelin plant
after a glitch that has delayed the new nuclear plant's startup of
commercial operations, officials said.
The tests will show whether CEZ can continue the trial runs and begin
commercial operations in the summer, later than the expected startup
in May. The reactor had been cut off for checks earlier than planned
in mid-January, after vibrations occurred in a steam pipe connected
to the turbine, and was restarted last weekend. The turbine was
connected to a generator today and experts will have enough data to
see whether the problem was fixed.
