My personal favorite is the Wilson cloud chamber. Nothing has quite the same 

impact on students as watching Alphas and Betas make tracks in the fog. If 

you don't have an NRC license, a piece of broken Fiesta-ware will do nicely 

as a source. I have carried my small (coffeepot sized) demonstration to many 

highschools in the area, so it is feasible (don't forget to take a cooler of 

dry ice along with you). Bon Chance'
