"nuclear" or "atomic"

The fear is not unfounded (though it is not justified). It is founded on

the rock-hard resistance of the nuclear institutions to renounce their

insistence over the last 50 years that even the tiniest increment of

radiation increases the risk of (i.e. "causes") cancer (i.e. "death"). If

one ray can kill me, I must insist that the one ray be contained. True,

some nuclear individuals state the truth. But why should anyone believe

them, when not only the nuclear watchdogs and regulators, but the "neutral"

advisory and regulatory groups like EPA, NCRP and the BEIR committees (who

speak for the NAS, right?), and the advocacy groups like ANS, NEI and the

very Secretary of Energy, say the same thing: LLR is killing people.

Until these institutions are willing to state the simple truth--that LLR is

not harmful and can be beneficial--and admit that it is not conservative or

even honest to say otherwise--until that time, it is not valid to try to

blame the public, the media or the antis. They add to the problem, but they

wouldn't be listened to if we had not be repeatedly providing the foundation

for them to stand on.
