Health Physicist Openings

The Pennsylvania (PA) Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of

Radiation 

Protection has immediate openings for at least three Radiation Health

Physicists in 

the Central Office in Harrisburg.  These positions are associated with

Pennsylvania's 

application for Agreement State status and the NRC's requirements for

meeting the 

increased demands of licensing, inspection, and decommissioning activities.

It is 

anticipated that more positions will be available over the next 12 months

with some 

being located in Central Office location in Harrisburg, PA and others in the

regional 

offices in Conshohocken, PA, Harrisburg, PA; and Pittsburgh, PA.  Depending

on the 

position requirements, the starting salary ranges would be approximately

$36,000 to 

$41,000.  The top of these scales is $54,846 and $62,572 respectively.



The Commonwealth of PA offers a competitive compensation package that

includes: 

37.5 hour work week; 12 holidays; annual and sick leave; fully paid medical,

vision, 

hearing aid, and dental plans; prescription drug plan; disability and life

insurance; and

NOTE: The Radiation Health Physicist (RHP) registers have been closed for

several months 

because of revision to the class specifications and development of new

examination materials.  

They reopened on April 20, 2001.
