NUCLEONICS WEEK - May 31, 2001 

U.S.: DOE takes pulse on future FFTF use. The DOE

last week asked for expressions of interest from anyone that

might want to use the department's Fast Flux Test Facility

(FFTF) at the Hanford site. Energy Secretary Spencer Abra-ham

is revisiting the final decision made by the Clinton ad-ministration

to shut down the breeder reactor. Proposals are

due by June 22 to Michael Holland, manager of DOE's

Brookhaven Area Office, who was named earlier this month

to lead the review of the FFTF, at (fftf.eoi@hq.doe.gov).
