Under the direction of the Radiation Safety Officer, manages the operational aspects of the radiation program, provides technical and engineering assistance to promote compliance with radiation related regulations, permits and hospital policy.  Develops and implements programs and procedures to assess and promote personnel safety, program quality and effectiveness.  Participates in laboratory radiation hazard evaluations.  Provides (24-hour) emergency support as needed.

Maintains current inventory control over all radioactive materials by performing inspections, conducting survey and properly maintaining records.

Responsible for the quality control program regarding disposal of radioactive wastes.  Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, etc.

Administers performance evaluations on related equipment.

Teaches medical physics and radioactive isotope handling and safety to Medical Center personnel.

Plans,  prepares and manages administration of radiopharmaceutical treatments.

Assists the Physicist/Radiation Safety Officer and assumes responsibilities in his/her absence.

Performs other related duties.

Perform radiation safety surveys, processing and disposal of laboratory wastes, receipt and wipe testing of packages, calibration of radiation survey instruments and other related services.

Monitors and manages waste disposal activities at the Medical Center, including on-site storage and commercial waste disposal for radioactive wastes.  Ensures that procedures at storerooms and decay-in-storage facilities for classifying, segregating and packaging of  wastes are followed.

Knowledge of Health Physics and Physics or closely related field and Masters/Bachelor's Degree .

Minimum two-(2) years progressively responsible related work experience to ensure familiarity with clinical physics and proper calibration of patient equipment.
