CAT scan commercialized
Today's paper contains a big color glossy insert "CATscan 2000
Quarterly" all about the benfits of a CAT scan with a mobile unit
"coming to a location near you" with a schedule of stops. Only $195 for
a heart, lung or abdomen scan--have all three and take $50 off your
third test. Call 1-87-R-U-AT-RISK to schedule an appointment. See
www.cat-scan2000.com for more info.
Amazing hype. This publication warns about how other technologies
overlook serious problems, has testimonials about how this "saved my
life" and notes in passing that (1) your insurance probably won't pay
for it and (2) this is X-ray technology.
Didn't I see a RadSafe post a few weeks ago expressing concerns about
unnecessary and/or excessive exposures from such mobile units?
