RE: Low Dose Research Program
Title: Re: Low Dose Research Program
A
quote from Lee Hood (the leader of the team which developed the first
automated DNA sequencer -- a piece of technology integral to the success of the
Human Genome Project) regarding the new "systems biology" which appeared in
an interview in MIT's September 2001 issue of Technology Review caught my
attention:
" ...researchers mix lab work with computer
modeling and eschew highly focused and hypothesis-driven experiments in favor of
the factory style approach typified by the genome project
itself..."
Reviewing the 45 abstracts
(http://lowdose.org/research.html#abstracts) presented at the Low Dose Research
Program June 2001 workshop reveals what appears to me to be a "systems biology"
approach.

What brought this up? At this time? Do you have any info that
any credible research is being done. Were there any better research proposals
funded in the current round (I've meant to check, but...
