By the way, my Board of Directors wrote to our elected officials
supporting renewal of the Price-Anderson Act and endorsing the ANS'

*** Update ***
Hearings/Markups - U.S. House of Representatives
Date: September 7, 2001
Committee: The Energy and Commerce Committee
Topic: Hearing on Price Anderson Reauthorization.
Witness will be DOE Deputy Secretary Blake. The hearing will address the
following issues:
1. Coverage for modular reactors;
2. Full indemnification for DOE contractors (the Minority is expected to
oppose this);
3. Period of reauthorization, i.e. 15 years or indefinite (they are
thinking that indefinite reauthorization for DOE contractors and 15 year
for NRC licensees might be an approach);
4. Various NRC licensee (not in our jurisdiction) issues such as the
annual maximum payout, etc.
Time/Location: 9:30 a.m. / 2322 Rayburn House Office Building
