NRC website and "concerned" "scientists"
> > On or about October 11, 2001, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission
essentially pulled the plug on the public's access to information by
shutting down the NRC's website and ADAMS. UCS is troubled by the unfair
manner in which the NRC excluded the public from the regulatory process.
This sort of language represents opportunism of the absolutely worst kind.
While more than 5000 families mourn the loss of loved ones and the free
world assesses how to cope with multifaceted terror threats which possibly
endanger thousands more, the UCS shows its "concern" for public safety by
raising a red herring the size of New Jersey. Unconscionable. Should their
"concern" inadvertently cost the lives of innocent workers or the public,
would they accept responsibility? Everyone knows the answer to that
rhetorical question.
