In this radon discussion, I have not seen the question of length of residence addressed by anyone.  It seems to me that to get any good estimate of exposure to radon, the study subjects must be those who not only lived in high-radon-concentration houses for a couple of decades but who actually were in such buidlings for a couple of decades.  If a high-radon house is "occupied" for 20 years by someone who works out of the home and sleeps near an open window, that is the equivalent of about 12 years of exposure.
