Title: AVAILABLE SENIOR SCIENTIST POSITION

SENIOR SCIENTIST

Bechtel Nevada, a prime contractor to the National Nuclear Security Administration, has an immediate opening for a Senior Scientist to provide assistance, direction, and technical oversight for real-world missions related to radiological effects assessments, emergency response planning, aerial radiological surveys, airborne atmospheric monitoring, and ground-based radiological monitoring.  Work location is at the Remote Sensing Laboratory in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Successful candidate will serve as customer liaison, deliver presentations, prepare publications, reports, and procedure guides; and conduct training and investigate, develop, and implement new procedures and/or instrumentation systems for radiological measurements and assessments.  Successful candidate will be required to serve as a member of an emergency response team, accept current DOE radiation dose limitations, serve as crew member on diagnostic aircraft, and work occasional evenings and weekends plus travel on short notice.

Successful candidate shall possess a B.S. in Physics, Chemistry, or Health Physics, plus six years experience, or combination of relevant training and experience.  Knowledge of health physics, related biological effects, and radiological measurement technology.  Significant experience with computers and scientific programming.  Familiarity with emergency response planning desired.  Eligibility for American Board of Health Physics certification (ABHP certification desired).  Experience in gamma spectroscopy and with neutron measurements, air sampling, or plume modeling.
