Dear Ruth (2),
I appreciate your post, because it is a clear confirmation of my "theory",
that natural scientists are not "one track minded", but usually interested
in things other than radiation protection, in your case photography.
Using your analogies: Would you use in the dark crypt of a French monastory
a film of 100 ASA with a zoom-lens of 35 to 70 with an aperture of 3.5 to
4.6 to take photos without flash? No, you would not. As well the dentist
should know, that with his low-definition film he would not be able to
detect an abscess in a tooth.
