Fw: Studies on the health affects to Rad workers
Jim,
Calm down. Your language is getting offensive and personal. If you wish to
carry on this discussion off of RADSAFE, please do so. I am certain you
know my view, but I am always willing to engage in a meaningful debate. I
certain examined some of the information you have sent me and posted on your
Web site. I find some of it interesting, but do not necessary draw the same
conclusions you do. I think that I view the LNT as a biological phenomenon
that should be studied. But as in any biological evaluation, it is probably
very specific for the system under specific conditions. That is one reason
I am not impressed with studies using different organism and cells in
culture. Effect on humans have to be studied in human, particularly as low
dosage levels. I think we both agree that carrying the concept into the
regulatory arena is inappropriate, but regulations are often driven by
politics and not science. There's the rub.
I find it interesting that you claim that your viewpoint gets such praise.
Yet, you seem to have no impact with the regulatory agencies. Maybe you
should petition the NRC, etc. to change their regulations. If you evidence
is so substantial, they will respond. That is where your battles should be
fought, not with the NCRP.
Have a nice weekend.

John, What crap! Grow up.
You know nothing (or do you?) but defend dishonesty. You reject the
report's own statements. I reported our 5 years of up-close SC1-6 / NRC
experience. You can get/read NRC transcripts and letters. At their HPS 136
report release we got strong applause by those who actually know what's
going on! Meinhold and Upton were, as always, dismal and unable to respond.
(They ALSO lamely said: "We referred to your document." That was in the '98
draft! But when pushed, they told NRC in Mar '99 they'd do more than make a
ref, they'd review the data. They didn't. It's plain in the text.
