Safety Officer II position opening at UNC-Chapel Hill



The University of North Carolina's Environment, Health and Safety Office has

an opening for a Safety Officer II.



The primary responsibilities of the position are to perform

Collaborative Laboratory Inspections (inspections for chemical, radiation,

fire and biological hazards), to calibrate survey instruments, to perform

x-ray surveys, to perform leak testing of sealed sources, to provide

training to university and hospital staff, and to provide radiation safety

services to a 700 bed medical facility. This is not an inclusive listing of

all the duties. The individual in this position will be a member of the

Environment, Health & Safety Emergency Response Team.



Requirements: Graduation from a four-year college or university,

preferably with a major in a physical, biological or technological science

and two years of experience; or an equivalent combination of both education

and experience. College-level course work in radiological sciences,

radiation protection or similar specialty area is highly desirable.

Experience in a university/hospital setting preferred.



The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is a rapidly growing

research institution/medical center. This position requires a mature

individual able to work as part of a team to implement safety programs.

The individual must be able to effectively communicate with University and

Hospital staff.
