Entergy adds 20 MW at Grand Gulf, Miss., nuke
NEW YORK, July 24 (Reuters) - Entergy Corp. said Wednesday it
increased power output at its Grand Gulf nuclear power station in
Mississippi by 20 megawatts through modifications to the cooling
towers.
The additional power is enough to serve 20,000 homes, and brings
Grand Gulf's total capacity to 1,210 MW.
Entergy modified a cooling tower at Grand Gulf and built an auxiliary
one in order to achieve the power increase.
Grand Gulf is located near Port Gibson in southeast Mississippi.
The plant is 10 percent owned by South Mississippi Electric Power
Association and 90 percent owned or leased by Entergy subsidiary
System Energy Resources.
One megawatt is roughly enough to power 1,000 average homes.
