HEALTH PHYSICIST I
Vacancy Number: 023372
Department: ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY
Proposed Start Date: SEPTEMBER 2002
Appointment Conditions: Continuous, 12 Months, Full Time
Special Conditions:
Description: Assist in the daily operations of the radioactive/mixed
waste, laboratory surveys/audits, portable survey instrument calibrations,
RAM package delivery, standard operating procedures, oversight of the
group's vehicle, and all radioiodinations and associated monitoring. Assist
the Radiation Safety Officer in the management of all departmental radiation
safety programs. These include, but are not limited to, the dosimetry
program, Nuclear Medicine program at the College of Veterinary Medicine,
ALARA review program, radioactive material receiving and shipping, and the
radiological analysis laboratory operations. Assist and present radiation
safety training. Serve as a member of the Iowa Radiological Emergency
Response Team. Assist in special projects involving environmental
remediation of radioactive contaminated sites.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in physical sciences
(includes biology) or engineering. One year experience in radiation safety
operations or applicable work. Knowledge and interpretation of radiation
regulations and applications. Must have valid driver's license with ability
to obtain CDL.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with biological research
procedures using radioisotopes, environmental restoration, laboratory
procedures and emergency response procedures.
Salary/Wage: $33,236-$40,859
