Re: Fluoroscopy of Feet in Shoes
>From NCRP Report No. 95, "Radiation Exposure of the U.S. Population From
Consumer Products and Miscellaneous Sources," Section 2.2.3, "Shoe-Fitting
Fluoroscopes":
"In 1953, it was estimated that there were approximately 10,000 shoe-fitting
fluoroscopes in use in the United States. Reported exposures to the feet ranged
from 18.1 to 36.1 E-4 C/kg (7 to 14 roentgens) per 20-second exposure (an
average setting). Concurrent exposures to the pelvis were reported in the range
of 7.7 to 43.9 E-6 C/kg (30 to 170 mR).
"Like the personnel scanning systems, health authorities consider such exposures
unnecessary and the application of x-ray fluoroscopes in shoe-fitting is
prohibited by the states (Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors,
"Suggested State Regulations for Control of Radiation," published as Department
of Health and Human Services, publication FDA 83-8203). The last reported
discovery of a shoe-fitting fluoroscope in use was in 1978. It is unlikely that
any units remain in operation in the U.S. today."

The opinions expressed are strictly mine.
It's not about dose, it's about trust.
