Re: Neutron transmission
There's a good "hand-calculation" method in Schaeffer.
See if you can get a copy of "Reactor Shielding For Nuclear Engineers." by
N. M. Schaeffer, 1973. Chapter 7, "Albedos, Ducts and Voids," has a good
discussion of neutron transmission through ducts using the Simon-Clifford
method, and the book has enough data tso that you can actually do some
calcs.
The book was originally put out by the US AEC (it's old) and may still be
available through the US NTIS.

I have lots of references for the transmission of fast neutrons through
large labyrinths but does any one have a reference for a simple expression
for the transmission of fast neutrons through a duct ie. holes about 0.25
sq m not pointed directly at the source of the radiation. Tesch in Rad Prot
Dos vol 20 No3 pp169-174 gives one for gamma transmission but I can not
find
one for fast neutron.
