Nuclear disaster drill held in Fukui

FUKUI (Kyodo) The national and Fukui prefectural governments held a disaster-prevention drill Thursday in the town of Oi dealing with radioactive material leaking from a nuclear reactor.

Local residents, including people living at a facility for the disabled, took part in the drill.

In an exercise starting at 10:20 a.m., about 250 residents living within the two-kilometer radius were evacuated to primary schools. Two "victims" exposed to radiation were helicoptered to a Fukui hospital.

Dirty bomb threat possible - expert
Professor Paul Wilkinson of the Centre for Terrorism Studies at St Andrews University said it was a "possibility" that the threat did exist and that the original Home Office warning was "not inaccurate".
