Re: Irradiated food

November 19, 2002

Free-radical production and the nutritional changes that occur during food

irradiation under current guidelines are both bogus issues. Free radicals

do not survive cooking. Properly conducted irradiation has little impact on

nutrients, but excessive cooking can really destroy nutrients.

There are numerous scientific studies showing the inherent safety of

irradiated foods and nutritional benefits. To see a list of these modern

scientific studies, check out position statement by the American Dietetics

Association at http://www.eatright.org/adap0200.html
