RE: MicroShield 5.05 User Interface Bugs

Ralph,

They had a user's group? That is news to me, but I don't think it will be

of much help. I have called a few times to request calification on how some

of the calculations are done, and never received a response. At least it is

not just me.

Subject: MicroShield 5.05 User Interface Bugs

The MicroShield program is full of all sorts of "gotcha"s regarding

undocumented restrictions on the length of strings entered into many of

its input fields. For example, the input fields for "configuration"

accept more characters than the program can deal with. The custom

material tool does not appear to have restrictions on the number of

files in a directory but MicroShield itself will crash if you try to

access the directory specified in the configuration if there are more

than about 20 custom material files in that directory.

I have apparently now encountered a bug involving the number of

characters in the "header" information in custom material files. Can

any one tell me the maximum number of characters that can be entered in

the "Name" and "Description" fields of a custom material file? It is

obviously less than the fields will accept.

I am posting here out of desperation. Over a period of several years,

my requests for registration with their User's Group have been ignored,

not rejected, ignored. I need to work through the weekend to finish

some work and am at a dead standstill. Help!
