Health Physicist Position in Atlanta, GA





Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, is seeking a qualified Health

Physicist with training and experience to assist with licensed activities

and services in the biomedical research programs of the medical school.

Under the general direction of the Radiation Safety Officer the person in

this position will be responsible for surveying and auditing of research

laboratories which possess and use radioactive materials and sealed sources,

training of personnel working in these laboratories, and overseeing a

comprehensive ALARA program for one of the three major research centers

located on the main campus.  Knowledge of health physics principles,

practices, and regulations is necessary, and excellent oral and written

communication skills and strong interpersonal skills are a must.

Bachelor's degree in health physics, radiological sciences, radiological

health or other related physical science from an accredited college or

university and a minimum of two years of radiation related experience is

required.  A relevant Master's degree may be considered in lieu of one year

of experience.  Applicant will be expected to work effectively both

independently and with other staff members, to be able to implement

radiation safety policies in a manner which is both effective and consistent

with researchers needs, and to meet strict deadlines.



Salary:  Hiring minimum:  $34,777
