International Meeting on Applied Physics

The following posted at the request of the meeting organizers. Do not reply

to me about the meeting; contact info is given below.

This is to inform you that the Call for Abstracts for the forthcoming

International Meeting on Applied Physics (APHYS-2003), to be held during

October 14-18th 2003 in Badajoz (Spain), is now opened. All the

information regarding this interdisciplinary conference can be found at

the following address:

www.formatex.org/aphys2003/aphys2003.htm

As you can see, Applied Nuclear Physics, Radiation Physics, Chemistry and

Processing, as well as Radiation Protection and Safety, Medical Physics..,

will have a significant weight in the Program.

Some of the radiation-related topics will be (just to name a few):

· Environmental radioactivity

· Applications to biomedical and clinical sciences

· Radiobiology and Radioecology

· Radionuclides (bio)sorption

· Radionuclides for therapeutic pharmaceuticals

· Radionuclide Chemistry

· Radioanalytical Methods

· Naturally Occurring Radionuclides in Terrestrial and Marine Environments

· Environmental and Biokinetic Model Validation

· Bioassay, Dosimetry, and Radiation Protection

· Risk Assessment and Management

· Advances in radiochemical separation techniques

· Advances in nuclear instrumentation and software

· Applications to geochemical and energy-related studies

· Metrology Applications

· Measurement of actinides in environmental and biomedical studies

· Radon measurement and environmental behavior

· Environmental Monitoring, Characterization, Remediation and Restoration

· Quality assurance and standards for radioanalytical chemistry

· Medical Physics

· Health Physics

· Nuclear Instrumentation

An interdisciplinary pre-Workshop on Radiation Protection and Dosimetry

will also be held the day before the Conference. A Plenary Lecture will be

given by Lars Persson (Retired Scientist of the Swedish Radiation

Protection Authority) with the title "Radiation Protection of Nuclear

Workers - Ethical Issues". A number of Invited speakers will be selected

from the works submitted for presentation. Please visit the Conference

website for full details on this Pre-Workshop. Papers on Materials Science

& Engineering for Radiation Dosimetry are specially welcomed.

APHYS-2003 will also serve as a platform to search for partners for

transnational collaboration projects, specially for the EU Sixth Framework

Program (NETworks of Excellence and Integrated Projects). "Projects

Presentations" and "Call for Partners" presentations proposals are

therefore encouraged and welcomed. If you are interested in taking part of

this Conference feature, please send us the corresponding form available

at the website.

In addition to the "traditional" oral contributed and posters

presentation, a Virtual Participation modality has been established for

those researchers unable to attend it in person. A limited number of works

can be presented in this way. Please refer to the Conference website for

details.

If you are interested in taking part of APHYS-2003, please send us your

PRE-REGISTRATION FORM as soon as possible. Please follow the

Pre-registration link at the website, or this direct URL

http://www.formatex.org/aphys2003/preregistration.htm

Proceedings

Radiation-related papers will be published in a special issue of Physica

Sripta. Papers dealing with Radiation Protection and Safety will be

reviewed for publication in a special issue of Radiation Protection

Dosimetry.

Other participating international publications are Journal of Microscopy,

Applied Surface Science, Colloids and Surfaces A, Powder Technology,

Microelectronics Journal, Journal of Non-crystalline Solids and Biomedical

Materials & Engineering.

Deadline for abstracts submission is April 30th 2003 (for oral

presentations proposals; for posters additional time will be provided)

although we highly recommend you to submit your abstract as soon as

possible to avoid saturation during the days before the deadline.

For any question or suggestion, please do not hesitate to contact us at

secretariat@formatex.org, or visit www.formatex.org/aphys2003/aphys2003.htm

(Bookmark the page!!) We would also appreciate if could disseminate this

Call for Papers through your Department or Institution.

We hope to meet you at this exciting and interdisciplinar international

meeting!
