John, Bill,
I collectively refer to these folks as the "radiation apologists" -- i.e.
those for whom "radiation protection" means protecting radiation's good
name.
A thought: "Never wrestle with a pig. The pig merely enjoys it, and an
onlooker cannot distinguish between the two." Source, unknown, but not
unappreciated.

Bill,
I am sorry to hear about your problems with the
"Radiation and Safety Health" gang. Of course, you
probably should have realized very shortly after the
exchange started the nature of their agenda. You,
afterall, challenged two of their beliefs. First,
radiation is good for you. Second, everyone who
disagrees with us is wrong, an member of the NCRP,
ICRP, etc., "mafia."
They provide in number of articles and links that
support their view. Woe be you if you ever question
any of it. I have had experiences with their
arguements, which basically boil down to bombardments
of e-mails and name-calling. There is really no
difference between them and the extreme anit-nuclear
is they feel they have the "truth" on their side.
They purport to have science on their side. All they
have is narrow view that they intend to force down
other's throats.
I hope you had a good weekend.

Pete,
I think your suggestion was a good one, although I am
not sure how it would go. I was asked to debate
someone on the topic of residential radon for the
journal, Medical Physics. The journal had a tough
time finding someone and then asked Cohen to do it.
We both sent in our opening argument, but Cohen was
asked to leave the debate when he continually refused
to reference assertions he made in the debate. As you
can see, Dr. Cohen and I have been communicating off
list also, which adds to my further frustration.
I suggested Phillpe Duport and we ended up having a
very enrichingdebate, see attachment.
I had to delete my epirad address, I was getting at
least 8 disgustingemails a day from the Radiation
Safety and health Group as well asnumerous non
understandable posts fron Howard Long.
My new email address is niton@mchsi.com, but feel free
to email me at myUniversity email address.
