Re: Argentine judge bans US ship with nuclear cargo
The problem was weight, not activity. Just checked with a friend who
was involved in trying to arrange passage and here is what he said:
They have a weight restriction on hazardous/radioactive cargo. The restriction is based on their capabilities to salvage (lift out of the canal) cargo that slips of the deck of the ship. The reactor vessel and associated shielding far exceeded their capacity. We requested a one-time waiver but it was rejected.
