RE: The value of a full set of the Journal

Elsevier (sp?), the successor to Pergamon Press did offer a full set of HP

journals from Vol 1 through 61 for $22,500. I got that figure from Bob

Feingold (KAPL retiree circa 1994) because he was trying to come up with a

valuation of his collection for donation to a university library. I believe

this figure was based on the LIBRARY subscription rate, which is

considerably higher than the individual subscription rate.

As for Volume 62 through present, you would need to contact Lippincott

(successor to Williams and Wilkins). Be aware that volume prices and

individual and institutional subscription prices are MANY MANY times higher

than the cost of HPS membership subscription.

What they look for is "fair market value." If you

went to the store, how much would you pay for it. At

a trift store, would could pay $2.50 for a hardcovered

book and $1.00 for a magazine or paperback book.

Of course, each issue of Health Physics is worth at

least $100. But I wouldn't try that.
