This really happened!



Two technicians are placing shielding around the primary piping of a 

nuclear power station.  One gets the idea to wrap two sheets of lead 

blanket around himself to cut the dose rate to his badge so that he can 

work longer.  A supervisor sees the technician and tells him that the head 

is part of the whole body and all that the shielding is doing is slowing 

him down.  The technician takes off the wrapping and gets back to work. He 

then says to the other technician "Since when is the head a part of the 

whole body?".  The other technician repied "In most people it is, but in 

your case the shielding was probably appropriate."
