Hadley Centre: Hadley Centre for climate prediction and research -Heatrelated deaths & greenhouse effect

Hi all:

Before any members of radsafe get apoplectic about the recent study cited

in the Reuters article in my earlier post about heat waves and global

warming in Europe, please note that the Hadley Centre for Climate

Prediction and Research is part of the British Government's Met Office.

This is not something emanating from the Union of Concerned Scientists.

The Hadley center provides a focus in the United Kingdom for the

scientific issues related to climatic change. I'm not saying their study

is gospel, just that it is a substantial, solid scientific review of

recent extreme climatic events and likely contributors.

This center's findings and suggestions of many thousands of excess deaths

last summer from a heat wave and mankinds' role due to carbon dioxide

emissions in power generation and transportation are certainly

significantly more meaningful than claims of health effects across Europe

calculated by some in multiplying small radition doses from the Chernobyl

accident times hundreds of millions of people over long time periods.
