Reasons
Ok, here is some clarification for those that need it. I'm sure not all of
you do, but Im going to give it anyways. This has to do with why I want
sealed sources, and a geiger counter. I realize that to some of you, asking
for a "donation" seems cheap. I think that it is ok, and practical for both
parties. I don't have the cash to spend on sources. Not feasable at all. If
a company is going to get rid of some, for one reason or the other, cause
they dont wanna store it, or its geting old, or WHATEVER, it is far more
convienient to donate it. Both parties are happy. Same with the geiger
counters. If someone buys a brand new geiger, that is better than their old
one, and the old one just sits around, why not donate it? Its up to them, if
they find that someone needs one, and says "Sure, it was just lying around
anyways, and I have a better one now." This is is not hard to understand.
Some of you understand this.
Also, as I said before, I have been in love with 'partical physics' since I
was in high school. I am 29 years old now. I first fell in love when my
physics teacher showed us the little colored disks of radiation, and the
geiger counters. We measured, and measured, and placed different shielding
between the source and counter, it was fun. I did a science project on the
deflection of alpha and beta particals when interacting with a magnetic
field. I am STILL interested in the magnetics part of charged particals,
specifically magnetic fields with high frequencies. Fluxing fields. I havent
done any research on them yet, but I plan to when I can. Im sure these
experiments have been done before, but it is the JOY of doing them that
makes me happy, and maybe i will gather data that hasnt been gathered, or I
will approach it from a different angle. There are so many ideas bouncing
around in my head, and I am sure there will be more. Its a hobby of mine, to
do research. So if someone can make a persons dream come true (yes I am a
fanatic), by donating a few sources, and a geiger counter, then that is all
the better. I hope this sheds some light on what I am looking for and why I
am looking for it. (Since someone asked why I wanted the sources.)
Cheers!
