AW: Denver, BEWARE!
Jim and RADSAFErs,
Only now I recognized the link given in the mail below and got at once
alarmed when seeing "gfstrahlenschutz.de". The socalled "Gesellschaft
für Strahlenschutz" (or as they call themselves "Society for Radiation
Protection" is n o t (!!!) a society which comprises the relevant
experts and scientists in radiation protection, but a clearly
anti-nuclear, anti-radioactivity, anti-scientific aggregation of
agitators and self-declared experts. The only organisation representing
German and Swiss internationally acknowledged scientists and experts is
the "Fachverband fuer Strahlenschutz" (FS), which is also a member of
IRPA of course. The Austrian Society for Radiation Protection, another
member of IRPA and for which I am a member of the board is very often
cooperating with FS.
The name of this "Gesellschaft für Strahlenschutz" has been deliberately
used to pretend an official character, like often words like
"Institute", "Research Institute", "Association", "Independent" etc. are
used.
Look at their homepage - a part of information is also available in
English, then you will recognize that the board is a "Who is who" in
non-scientific antinuclear propaganda. Mrs. Schmitz-Feuerhake is one of
the best known. She was very close to be expelled from her university,
because it was found that in her antinuclear "research" she simply
skipped data because they did not fit her intentions. She recently
wanted to present a paper at an Austrian conference and her
(anti-nuclear) contribution was refused, because the co-authors
mentioned on her manuscript did not only not know about her submission
but refused to support her conclusions. The real reason: Her paper
lacked any scientific standard. She stands behind a "scientific" work on
radioactivity close to a German NPP (the "Elbmarschen") which is so
ridiculous that it might be good for a quiz for university students
under the title "Find at least half of the 500 wrong "facts" described
in this paper" within 30 minutes.
Prof. Koehnlein is well known for his anti-nuclear engagement. He is not
from the University of Muenster - he is retired. He was awarded for his
anti-nuclear engagement by being appointed deputy head of the German
Radiation Protection Commission when the outspoken anti-nuclear Minister
Trittin from the Green Party changed the Radiation Protection Commission
into a body satisfying his political attempts.
I could go on, but I think it is not worth the time wasted.
I hope this gives you a correct view on some facts. This is not a
comment supporting hormesis!
