[ RadSafe ] uranium birth defect causation details

I'd hardly call "16 volunteers" with "suspect exposures to depleted
uranium" and "increase in the frequency of dicentric chromosomes (dic)
and centric ring chromosomes (cR)", a representative sample of all Gulf
War veterans, proof that they were exposed to DU, or that it caused any
adverse health effects.

Well, I should point out that Dr. Schott's study appeared in the
scientific peer-reviewed medical literature --
   http://rpd.oupjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/103/3/211
-- while the Royal Society report did not.

Also, the chair of the Royal Society working group on depleted uranium,
Professor Brian Spratt, has made a number of comments subsequent to the
publication of their report expressing a great deal more concern than
the conclusions of the report might imply.

Sincerely,
James Salsman
