[ RadSafe ] RE: First Ever Intentional Hormetic X-Ray Exposure ?

Jay,

A couple of thoughts. First, you can measure individual response with tests
to "see" the stimulation of immune function markers. (This adds a great deal
to the low cost, as we found when considering doing research with people as
has been done with, e.g., people at the Misasa Spa and others.)

For health benefits, especially reducing cancer, Yuan-Chi's description is
what is needed, which we have discussed periodically over the years,
especially about John Cameron's proposal to put rad sources under the bed of
(us) old people, which will demonstrate a reduction of cancer (and other
infectious and inflammatory conditions) quickly (a year or two or more
depending on the size and quality of the exposed population and record
keeping/tracking).

Your surgeon may have limited success in treating a patient locally. This
certainly worked historically, as documented in thousands of cases and in the
Kelley and Dowell papers and their book at:
http://cnts.wpi.edu/rsh/docs/Kelly42/Kelly42TableOfContents.htm

See also my paper on "There NEVER was a Time that Low Dose Radiation Benefits
were NOT Known" and the attached Jan 1897 report from an MD and researcher
who found benefits in infections and inflammatory conditions from local
exposures. However, consider the "local exposures" in 1896, and the 1930s
and '40s, were not the extreme collimations that we have now. It is likely
that there was more low-dose exposure to the whole body to stimulate the
immune system generally from local exposures of 50-100 rad, than there are
from x-ray equipment today. This should not be ignored.

Regards, Jim

Pat,
The results I will report are of the surgeon's x-ray treatment of antibiotic
resistant bone infection. These treatments are at a much higher exposure
than what I had but only of the affected areas. He is hoping to reduce the
rate of additional surgeries to install (and remove) antibiotic beads in the
bone, and to reduce amputation rates.

As you know, it is not possible to report health effects from prophylactic
hormesis in a single individual. From reading the literature, I know it is
helpful to increase immune function and act as a general stimulus, but there
is no way to report anything that is not anecdotal in a single individual.

FYI, I am working on a radon foot bath that would offer similar exposure to
that of the famous European spas that could be used conveniently at home
easily by anyone. Will let the list know when it is finished and tested.
