Unless I am mistaken, you will not see low energy betas with a scintillation
detector. We use the low energy gamma from Am-241 to set the discrimination
in gross count gamma ray tools used in well logging. A .062 inch stainless
steel scintillation crystal housing will pass only 22% of the approx. 60 KeV
gammas from the Am-241 check source.

Subject: [ RadSafe ] BP7/4 Scintillation Probe Data required

Greetings all

Has anyone got to hand any data on the classic BP7/4 (or similar)
scintillation probe.

An internet search revealed very little other than the thermo site.

I'm particularly after performance data with low energy beta emitters
(Ni-63 would be great, C-14 would do) at the low cps/Bq cm-2 range.

Cheers

Mark
