There was a movement some time ago to rename the Health Physics Society
which failed. Then a decision was made to rename the annual meeting the
American Radiation Safety Conference and Exposition. I guess it was within
the prerogative of the President and or the Board to call the meetings what
they wanted while a change of the name of the organization required a change
in the charter or bylaws or whatever and a vote of the membership and as I
said the vote was not to change.

But the American Radiation Safety Conference and Exposition has the
unfortunate acronym ARSCE which one might pronounce arse and I think they
have stopped calling the annual meetings that.

Just a little bit of recent history.

To avoid public confusion and uncertainty how about
"The American Science Thingee Society"?
