Depleted Uranium in artillery rounds

My boss has been contacted by several people from the local reserve group.
They served during the Iraqi conflict and several of them have come down
with illnesses.  Being a teaching hospital, these people have ended up here.
They were tank operators and the rounds were stored in the tanks.  Also,
after the conflict was over, most of the men explored destroyed Iraqi tanks
which may have been hit by these rounds.

My boss (the RSO) would like to get some input from other health physicists
concerning possible effects from these rounds.  He is a medical HP and so
has only a limited knowledge of possible effects.
