Radioactive Rocks

Our Geology Department is considering the transfer of a large collection of
rocks to another institution.  Some of the rocks are significantly radioactive
(a monitor film badge placed on the outside of the door of the cabinet in which
 some of the rocks are stored measures on the order of 2000 mrem a month).  I'm
wondering about shipping requirements and am assuming that we'll have to ship
them as low specific activity materials.  I was planning to confirm that with
DOT but am curious first about whether any of you have been in a similar situ-
ation.
