Re: Ra-Be source shielding

Our Company routinely ships and/or stores 3 Ci AmBe sources in containers
composed of a steel outer shell and inner cavity with with a shielding
material consisting of polyproprylene(sp?) beads with an epoxy and 
WEP (Water Extended Polyester) "cementing" compound.  The pig weighs
approximately approximately 80 lbs and looks like a diving bell.  The
diameter of the sphere is approximately 18 inches.  Dose rate on is 
surface is 50 mr/hr and a dose rate at 1 meter (transport index) of
4 mr/hr.
