Hi,

I may be foggy on this a bit, but I seem to recall that the CRC handbook 
on radiation protection had a discussion of the issue.  If not, then you 
might check the Federal Registers implementing the FDA regulations on 
such equipment.

Hope this helps.  It's been a while since I looked it up.
