Sewer feedback

Sue: We've only had a couple of the designated sinks worked on since we
instituted the local disposals. In both cases the plumbing shop called
the RS office when preparing to work, as requested. A quick survey showed
background on one trap and about 3X bkg on another, where 125I was being
dumped (negligible by our policy).
If the trap's intact, you might, and I'd consider, putting some
drano in the sink before commencing work. Someone recently said they'd
done this with some sinks in an I patient's room with some success.
Interesting questions re. eventual pipe dismantling and disposal--
but it'd be a small price to pay for the ALARA of quick flushing in the
labs.
